The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), a registered UK charity, has managed international postgraduate scholarship programmes for almost 60 years. Most of our work is for external sponsors, including three UK government departments. In all cases, we are committed to helping sponsors meet the objectives of their investment and to providing an excellent service to award holders themselves.

From April 2012, for the first time, the ACU will host the Secretariat for Chevening Scholarships – the global scholarship programme of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Chevening Scholarships are currently awarded to some 700 potential leaders from over 100 countries annually. The Communications Officer needs to ensure that the scholarships are widely known to applicants and other stakeholders internationally.

Applicants must demonstrate high-level written and verbal communication skills, the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely, experience of website management, an understanding of the needs of international students, an interest in higher education, international relations and/or development issues, and the ability to relate to a range of external stakeholders.
